Have you ever thought about how a single moment in time, like a phone call, text or taking your eyes off the road for 3 secs can change your life forever? That’s how David felt in 1 Samuel 20:35-40 as he waited for Jonathan’s answer: did Saul really wanted to kill David?
David would not see the palace again for years to come, as he knew it, he would live the rest of his life running from Saul.
David could have killed Saul and took over as king because he had been anointed to do so. However, David knew that God’s way was the best and if God anointed him to be king, he would be king one day.
Waiting on God’s timing is usually not our favorite pass time, but in order to live a life pleasing to God and to receive all the blessings He has for us, we need to look at David’s life. Use that season of stillness to grow closer to God by staying in His Word, constant prayer and time alone with Him will give you strength to endure the waiting. He will not let you down, His promises will come to pass and it’s up to you (and me) to listen to His calling for the right time.
